In this post and on the video, you’ll discover 5 super science based sales tips. These are provided by Vanessa Van Edwards from science of people.com. Many top networkers apply these tips in their presentations. You should too.

1) Start with a positive comment.

Vanessa discusses how a research study involving room service waiters increased their tips on average by 27% merely by making a positive comment when entering the hotel room. When greeting a business prospect, this can be as simple as making a comment about how nice the weather is that day or congratulating him/her on some positive press coverage that was received.

2) Don’t talk negatively about competitors.

There is a difference between denigrating your competitors and giving an honest, fair comparison of your products/services. The former can cause you to lose respect from your prospect. Vanessa stated that when you do the former, the person’s brain associates the negative comments with your persona.

3) Assign a positive label to the person you are addressing.

People have certain attributes as prospects or as existing customers. Choose to zone in on positive attributes and you’ll be surprised how they respond. Vanessa reported on a fundraising study that showed how people increased their contributions when they were told that they were among the biggest contributors the organization had.

If you are introducing a new product to an existing customer, for example, you can talk about the fact that he/she is among your most loyal customers. Of course, whatever you communicate must not be misrepresented.

4) Use powerful body language.

Always look people in the eye listening carefully to what they have to say. Don’t cross your arms. The inflection in your voice is important as well along with maintaining proper posture. Vanessa states that the use of powerful body language increases sales by 56%.

5) Finish with a positive experience.

Even if prospects have some level of discomfort during your presentation, if you end with a positive experience, people will typically view the entire presentation in a positive light. The ending could include a complimentary small gift of some kind, a kind word about some information they shared with you, etc.

When you are involved with an mlm company as an independent networker, you are selling various products/services. When you hone your selling skills, you can increase the percentage of prospects you close who become customers. Use these 5 super science based sales tips to help you increase your customer base and profits. Start today.
