For those participating in the mlm affiliate marketing convergence, social media is incorporated as part of an overall marketing strategy. Social media best practices are used by astute networkers and affiliates to create new profitable relationships. Others choose to basically ignore best practices and end up actually hurting their businesses.

Where do you stand?

An article appearing in recently summarized research they conducted along with that by, about the use of social media best practices and how companies viewed the effectiveness of their practices.

When used properly, social media was found to be most effective at impacting brand awareness and reputation, increasing site traffic and securing higher search engine rankings.

It was interesting to read that among large businesses, 33% reported having written and implemented policies while among small businesses, only 13% have done so. For those independent mlm network marketers and affiliate marketers belonging to the latter group, writing a strategic social media marketing plan, monitoring the execution of that plan, and incorporating social media best practices can greatly enhance your ability to grow your business and ward off any possible damaging effects. (Obviously merchants and the mlm companies themselves can experience the same positive results.)
